Pago Pago, American Samoa – December 26 – The incoming administration is navigating an extraordinary transition, facing a significantly compressed timeline to assume leadership of the American Samoa Government. With only four days allotted for the handover, this period has presented unique challenges but also opportunities for collaboration and preparation.

The incoming administration extends its gratitude to Governor Lemanu and his department directors for the Transition Meet & Greet on December 23rd, during which transition binders were provided. While this meeting marked a positive step, the limited timeframe and gaps in prior communication have presented obstacles to ensuring a seamless transfer of responsibilities.

“While we are grateful for the December 23rd meeting, the unprecedented short timeline has tested the resilience of our team and highlighted the importance of thorough preparation,” said Ella Gurr, Executive Director. “We remain optimistic and focused on working diligently for the people of American Samoa as we move forward.”

Despite the constraints, the incoming administration has been steadfastly preparing for the following inaugural events:

  • Inauguration Ceremony: January 3rd at 11:00 AM, Malaeoletalu, Fagatogo

  • Governor’s State Dinner & Ball: January 4th at 5:30 PM, Lee Auditorium, Utulei

  • Sunday Church Service: January 5th at 12:00 PM, EFKAS, Fagatogo

The incoming administration remains committed to fostering unity and delivering effective governance for the people of American Samoa. Further updates will be provided as the transition progresses.
